Tuition Assistance: Our Investment in You

We set aside a budget to support those in our company who are motivated to advance through education. We recognize that it's not always easy to balance work and personal obligations, so we want to demonstrate our belief in you by giving you resources to pursue your career advancement at Nelnet.

  • Nelnet provides tuition assistance to help finance your degree. Reimbursements may be up to $5,250 USD per calendar year. You must receive a grade of B- or higher to be eligible for reimbursement. This benefit also reimburses 80% of book expenses. This is considered non-taxable income as allowed by the IRS regulations. Associates must be employed at the time of payout to receive reimbursement.

Nelnet Tuition Reimbursement amounts vary by your weekly scheduled hours in Vista and are as follows:

    • 100% for normal weekly scheduled hours of 40.
    • 75% for normal weekly scheduled hours between 30-39.
    • 50% for normal weekly scheduled hours between 20-29.
All degree programs, non-degree seeking individual classes, or certificate programs must be approved by the Tuition Assistance Committee prior to the start date of classes. Only one approval is needed for each program. The committee is made up of People Services and business segment leaders who will recommend approval using the criteria within this program. To request approval, the associate must complete and submit the Tuition Assistance Application to PBServices@nelnet.net.

The benefit is limited to one bachelor's degree and one master's degree/upper level degree program.

Please contact your Manager, Supervisor, or HR Representative for more details or email PBServices@nelnet.net.

Time is Money: Transfer Credits Without Charge

One of the reasons we partner with Bellevue University is they understand the critical need adult learners have to make the most of their time.

Few universities offer the variety of ways to gain college credit that will apply to your degree program as Bellevue University does. These include previous college credits, evaluated training programs, for-credit exams and more.

Gaining college credit for work you've already done can save untold hours and significant money. And best yet, Bellevue University does not charge to transfer previous credit earned into your degree program.

The best way to find out how many credits you have that can transfer into a degree program is to talk to a Bellevue University Enrollment Counselor.
